Dioni Villalba: Málaga's ‘9’ who scores goals

//

Dioni Villalba is establishing himself as a key player in Málaga CF's attack this season, accumulating three goals that have been decisive in securing five of the Blue and Whites' twelve points. The Malagueño striker, who returned to his homeland club with the dream of ending his career wearing the shirt of his childhood team, has demonstrated his experience and eye for goal at key moments.

Last Saturday, in the 2-2 draw against Cádiz CF at the Nuevo Mirandilla, Dioni was Málaga's best player on the pitch. Dioni took on the offensive responsibility, and completed his first full match of the season. Although he had two clear chances earlier, it was in the second half when he took advantage of a defensive error to get in front of the goalkeeper and score at the near post.

With this goal, Dioni has now scored ten goals since his return to Málaga between last season and this season, standing out not only for his ability to score, but also for his ability to play between the lines and help his teammates in the construction of offensive play. After the game, the veteran striker expressed his satisfaction: ‘We live on goals, I knew I had to be ready. I'm happy to do my bit,’ he said, making it clear that his “granite” is becoming a mountain this season.
