Marc Roca Junqué, European U21 Champion and RCD Espanyol player, joins Promoesport.
Born in La Granada del Penedès, a small town with a population of 3.000, on 26th November 1996, Roca arrived at the RCD Espanyol at the age of 12. After going through all the youth categories on the club, the miedfielder landed in the U23 team where he became a crucial player for his side. That was the plunge that made him achieve his dream: Being a first team player for RCD Espanyol.
The 23-year-old midfielder did not need more than a season to settle in the first team established himself as one of the most important players of the squad. With Roca an essential piece of its midfield, RCD Espanyol qualified to Europa League for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
His great campaign in La Liga earned him a call-up for Spain’s U21 team to play at the Euro held in Italy and San Marino. Roca was a pivotal piece in Spain’s XI and the Spaniards lifted the trophy as best European U21 national team.
Marc Roca is an essential player for RCD Espanyol as a lynchpin of the team. An extremely talented player, Roca has a strong physical presence in the midfield and a great visión of play. All these are rare qualities in a player of his age, which have allowed him top lay more than 100 official matches with the first team of Espanyol being only 23 years old.
