Iván Villar win the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after a very tight final against Brazil. The 'canarinha' had the opportunity to get ahead on the scoreboard after the referee awarded them a penalty.
In the second half, 'La Rojita' needed more speed and opted for Carlos Soler to energize the game. After 61 minutes,
the Valencian player put a cross that ended in goal. The tie remained until the end and, after a hard-fought extra-time, the Brazilian team reissued its Olympic gold from five years ago at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The Spanish national football team had not won the silver medal since Sydney 2000. Now, 21 years later
, Carlos Soler and Iván Villar have made history. The award for an excellent performance in Tokyo.
